Let’s Make Cannabis-Infused Pain Salve

With the ever-increasing popularity and benefits received from THC/CBD, it’s not all just about
edibles, smoking, or vaping. Benefit from THC-based skincare can provide relief for various
ailments ranging from dry skin to joint and anti-inflammatory properties. Listed below will be a
basic recipe for topical and a pain relief/anti-inflammatory salve. I watched a video of a herbalist
discussing the anti-inflammatory properties of capsicum and decide to include it. I have added
essential oils for their health benefits as well as fragrance.

PLEASE NOTE: These recipes include either fresh citrus zest or essentials oils. This can cause photosensitivity to sunlight and can cause sunburn. If you apply and plan to be outside within 12 hours PLEASE use additional sunscreen. Stay tuned for a THC lotion with sunscreen…

Infused PAIN SALVE

UTENSILS

  1. Mason Jars
  2. Double Boiler
  3. Tins or Glass Jars

Ingredients

  1. 1⁄2 cup coconut oil
  2. 4 tbs almond oil
  3. 2 tsp cayenne powder
  4. 1 tbs rose oil (I made this by soaking rose petals from valentines day as well as from my
    garden)
  5. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1 tsp ginger powder
  7. 4 tbs beeswax
  8. 1 tbs mango butter
  9. Essential oils, lavender, peppermints, ylang-ylang, frankincense

Directions

  1. Decarb product. I had stems and fan leaves from my first grow plus I added bud as well.
  2. I use my Instapot to make the infused oil by placing the decarbed product in a mason jar with cayenne pepper, turmeric, ginger powder, and rose oil. Place filled mason jar with product and oils in the Instapot (make sure the lid on the mason jar is finger tight). Pour water into the Instapot so that the water level is 3⁄4 way up the mason jar. Make sure the jar doesn’t float. Set on manual high for 20 minutes. Let it rest for 20 minutes then do a natural release.
  3. Remove jar from Instapot and strain through a fine filter. I filter with x200 and x400 mesh
  4. Add to a double boiler the infuse coconut oil, beeswax, almond oil, and mango butter
Slowly heat until all the ingredients have melted.
  5. Remove from heat and add essential oils ( I add approx 10 drops of each essential oil)
  6. Pour into tins and cool at least 24 hrs before use

Canna-note:

Salve does not contain any sunscreen. The product can cause photosensitivity to sunlight.
