TODAY

There are days that the sun shines,
But we can’t see it.
It just means that for today it is too much.
The black cloud hovering above us,
Blocks out the rays of sunlight and joy.
We don’t want to deal with family or friends.
It doesn’t mean we don’t need them,
It just means that for today it is too much.
The telephone may ring,
But there is no one that we wish to speak with,
No one that we believe can understand.
It just means that for today it is too much.
We know in our hearts that it doesn’t rain every day,
That must mean that the sun is going to shine again.
It just means that for today it is too much.
Sometimes, memories of an easier life,
Cloud our hearts and our soul.
We know we should appreciate the gift of life,
It just means that for today it is too much.
Today we are cloudy, unsure of who we are,
We don’t know how to plan our future,
We aren’t sure of who we are.
It just means that for today it is too much.
We hold on to tomorrow.
Hopefully, a sunny sky.
Or at least a sun that we can see.
It just meant that for today it was too much.
